The Random Thoughts of Gav
Show Stuff:
It seems, that this little blog looks a little bland (for the bands it's good...it's just....Oh, Cool they played us!). So, I thought it's time to write something other than a playlist and a introduction to your Western.Oz Team (which I may add is expanding further...very soon)
First of all, I like to thank Bordeaux for putting on a superb show last Tuesday Night on "Live At The Oz". Love You Not are due up for "Live At The Oz" Next Week...so if they play half as good as Bordeaux did...it'll be an awesome show.
In other show News...Bands have been approaching us for interviews like there is no tomorrow! A few things are unconfirmed...so you WON'T be told about those...but I can confirm after Love You Not coming in this Tuesday Night, I'll be chattting to The Bullet Holes the week after. The week after that...I'll be chatting to Northam Indie Rockers (by phone obviously) The Novocaines. Plus a few more "Live At The Oz" performances in the next few weeks...maybe. STAY TUNED!
Random News (that you may or may not care about):- I would like to wish a farewell to The Fault's Bassist, Dave Carter who has left the band....a new Bass Player is TBA.
"After the unfortunate departure of our beloved bass player Dave, we'd just like to inform you that we do have a replacement member and things will be back in full swing again for the WAMi festival in late Febraury, with a new twist to look forward too..." - The Fault from thier Myspace Blog
The Fault are dear friends of mine and are have been supporters of our radio staion and vice versa for a while now...and we look forward to more from them and thier line-up...
- Perth Punkers, Last Years Hero have broken up...this thier statement to thier fans on myspace.
"Hey guys wazup. As some of you may or may not know as of the first week of 2007 Last Years Hero is no longer an active band. This was a decision that has been building up over the last few months and as the new year ticked over we came to the conclusion that our passion was no longer with the band. It wasnt an easy decision but the situation we were in pretty much spelt out what we needed to do.
Up until now we had the best times in our lives, recording two releases, playing over 400 shows across Australia, touring Japan and meeting some of the greatest people whom we are still great friends with today.
Huge thanks goes out to all of the people who were ever into our band in any kind of way, coming out to shows, buying our records and even just sharing a drink or three. Without the fans we wouldnt have even come close to as far as we did so massive props go out to you all!!!
Massive thanks goes out to our manager Nick Compton for all his hard work over the last three years aswel as Jeff Halley at Monster Management. And without the help of Below Par Records(aus) and Big Mouth Records(jpn) you guys would have never been able to hear our music so we cant thank those guys enough for giving us our start and releasing our music!!!!
Thanks again LAST YEARS HERO............." - Last Years Hero... from thier myspace blog.
- Richard of The Freudian Slips told me last night, that an EP is on the way...like VERY SOON! I love "The Freudians" and this WILL be a superb EP...so look for it and of course stay tuned to Western.Oz to hear it first and of course we will be chatting to them...hopefully.
- Reportedly (in X-Press Magazine) Schvendes (another Gav Favourite) have pretty much completed their 1st album. They are shooting videos for the singles as well. Needless to say...but i'm excited as!
That enough from me for now...
Tune on Tuesday Nights from 8pm on 89.7 Twin Cities FM from Western.Oz.
Kind Regards
Gavin Crossley
